Frequently Asked Questions & Information

Do you want to speak on stage? Have you got a powerful story to share? Perhaps you want to nominate someone who you believe belongs on stage. If so, we would love to hear from you! Please complete the HerStory Speaker Nomination Form.

ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS

At HerStory we welcome any speaker who wants to talk from the heart, in full authenticity, about a story that has powerfully affected their life and will inform, inspire and empower other women. Our speakers come from all walks of life, all different ages, different cultures and different nationalities.

As a collective this is very powerful. It provides a safe and nurturing space for women to share their stories of how they have overcome adversity and challenges to lift and inspire others. It is also an ‘incubator’ for women to share and hone their speaking skills, whist gaining confidence and support, in order to take their talks to a wider audience such as the TEDx circuit.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT?

HerStory isn’t a typical conference for women. It is truly a female empowerment event through the medium of stories. The event prides itself on bringing women together so that they can connect, at a very authentic level, through story telling.

There are no sales pitches allowed on the stage, in fact, the stories that our speakers share are very personal ones. This allows the audience to really support and ‘hold space’ for each person on stage. Every HerStory presentation is 15 minutes in length, which keeps the talks to the point and very powerful.

At each HerStory Conference, there are 100 speakers invited to attend. Every speaker is also encouraged to spread the word and invite another 5 or 10 other women (either as nominated speakers, or as attendees). Therefore the room is full of women who inspire, and women who wish to be inspired.

  SUGGEST A HERSTORY SPEAKER

If you would like to speak on stage at a HerStory Conference, or you know someone who deserves to share their story, please use our Speaker Nomination Form and tell us why you believe this person is well matched to the HerStory Stage.

Please note that multiple nominations will not influence our speaker selection. We review all nominations on a first come basis.

Speaking at HerStory Conference

Q. Can I suggest a speaker that I don’t know personally? I don’t have their contact details.

A. Yes, feel free to nominate someone that you’d like to hear speak at one of our conferences. Just fill out as much information as you can and we will reach out to them and invite them to attend.

Q. Do I have to be nominated or can I suggest myself as a speaker?

A. Please complete our ‘speaker nomination form’ and fill out as much information as you can.

Q. Can I suggest a friend, family member, someone I work with, or a client?

A. Yes, absolutely. Just let us know how you know the person and why you believe they would be a welcome addition to the HerStory Conference family.

Q. Do I have to be an accomplished speaker to talk at the HerStory Conference …this will be my first time on stage?

A. What is amazing about this conference is we welcome ALL women who want to share their personal story with others. We have mentoring teams who can support you and give you tips on how to put your talk together and what to do.

Q. Is there a deadline for nominating speakers at your conferences?

A. No, we are constantly reviewing submissions from women who would like to be invited as a speaker at our conferences. It’s best that you get your nominations in as soon as possible because our conferences fill up very quickly and this gives the HerStory team a chance to review the entries and make the best decisions for the speaker roster.

Q. 15 minutes? My talks are usually much longer than this. Can I extend my talk?

A. We strictly abide to 15-minute speaker slots. HerStory is a place to powerfully condense your stories for maximum impact and empowerment. We have found that 15 minutes is an optimum time when a talk is carefully prepared with power and passion.

Q. Do you have keynote speakers and panels?

A. Yes, we do. After each session, we have a panel of the speakers available to answer any questions the audience may like to ask them. We do have keynote speaker sessions available, and these are limited sessions at each event. This is something we can discuss with you if you’re accepted as a speaker at one of our conferences.

Q. Does HerStory pay speakers to attend?

A. No we don’t. This is an opportunity for women to share their stories, on stage, with others, so that they can gain a powerful opportunity in learning how to deliver a persona talk, in front of a supportive audience. There is a small speaker fee for attendance, which includes the speaker session, venue costs, lunch for the speaker and refreshments throughout the conference. If you are accepted as a speaker at HerStory, this will be discussed with you in order for you to secure your speaker slot.

Q. I’m not sure which speaker package to choose, can you help?

A. In the first instance, please submit your Speaker Nomination Form. Once accepted, you will then have an opportunity to reach out and speak to someone who will guide you through the process and ensure that the package is the best fit for you and your needs.

Q. My friends and family want to attend but I only see a link at the moment for speaking. How can they buy tickets and how much are they?

A. Tickets for friends and family are available (see speaker and ticket details below this FAQ). We also encourage our speakers to invite at least 5 people they know. The idea is that this provides a very supportive and safe atmosphere at our conferences around the world. Also, if you’re accepted as a speaker, our SILVER and GOLD speaker packages include a selected number of free tickets.

Q. Can you remind me how much the speaker packages are please?

A. Yes, you can find what is included in the different speaker packages listed below and if you are accepted as a speaker, we can have a chat about what package is the best fit for you and your speaker objectives.
